Additionally, LSSDR was awarded a $331,000 granty to train case workers that will be serving Ike survivors in 34 The grants are funded bythe U.S. Departmenrt of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergenc Management Agency. “We are humbled by the opportunityt to once againprovide much-neededd services to disaster victims, especially those who have the least resources as they work toward rebuilding theie lives,” said Kurt Senske, president and CEO of Lutheran Sociao Services.
Under a program callede Recovery for IkeSurvivors Enterprise, or case managers will connect cliente with the goods and services they need to recover. LSSDR will work closely with its partnerz agencies to meetsurvivors needs. Among its partners agencies are: Boat People SOS, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocesewof Galveston-Houston, G.R.A.C.E. Community Gulf Coast Center; ICNA Relief USA, Mainland Children’s Partnershil and Society of St. Vincent de Paul. LSSD R has hired 10 people to staffthe program. It will also hire a finances staffer andadministrative person.
LSSDR is an affiliatexd program of Lutheran Social Services of the a social service agency that serves morethan 35,0090 people annually throughout Texas and Louisiana.
